What
is mediation?
When asked this question, most people will respond quickly that it is an
alternative to expensive attorney's fees and lengthy waits for the opportunity
to present your case to the Court.
While this response is accurate, it is not the most important part of mediation.
The Alamogordo Mediation Center defines the single most important purpose
of mediation as placing the parties in control . On first reading
of that statement, you may think that you and your partner cannot agree
on anything at this point in your life; how can you ever agree to the division
of your property, debts, custody, support, time sharing with the children,
and numerous other issues that must be addressed to restructure your family?
This is why so many people choose to place a third party, such as their
attorney or the court, in charge of their divorce. (read

Who
is Johnnie Glass?
Johnnie M. Glass is the Alamogordo Mediation Center's mediator and brings
unique practical experience to the process. This practical experience
can make the process more efficient and productive. She is well qualified
to aid the parties in developing a full range of settlement options and
moderating unrealistic expectations that may hinder the progress in settlement.
In addition to her law office and mediation experience, Johnnie has been
the owner and manager of a number of private businesses and has been a
licensed Real Estate Broker since 1984. (read

What do the fees for mediation
include?
Private Mediation: Mediation services include: session time;
preparation time; documentation preparation; telephone conferences and
possibly Parenting Coordinator Services
Court Appointed Mediation: If you have a case pending before the Court,
you may request the appointment of a mediator to assist you in the resolution
of the disputed issues concerning the custody of and time sharing with
your children. These fees can often be paid by the Twelfth Judicial
District Court Mediation Fund. Financial assistance is available in these
cases. You will be asked to reimburse the Court based on your ability

| Confidentiality
Notice: All your discussions and offers of settlement in mediation are
always confidential, and they are not admissible as evidence in court should
you not succeed in reaching an agreement in mediation. The
mediator will not testify in court for either party. Any discussions
regarding your mediation with a third party must be authorized in writing. |
